Attempted to get a reservation at Oyster Oyster by signing up for alerts, was emailed about a table suddenly available 6 weeks from now, and in the time it took me to find my credit card and pay the deposit, it was gone. I feel like Ahab right after his leg gets bit off.

Aside from all the other losses, KidsPost is great! Such a good resource for both kids and adult learners who want to interact with the news in an approachable way. I use the links regularly and am very bummed it will be no more.

New from and me: Gov. DeSantis asked Florida universities to detail their spending on diversity and critical race theory. Every U reported spending 1 percent or less of their budgets on those activities:

A note that it's not university presidents. It's presidents of Florida's 28 public community and state colleges. Florida also has 12 public U's, like UF and UCF, under its state university system.

Regardless, we'll find out soon. By February 1, the statement says, the presidents will have "removed any institutional instruction, training, and policies opposed to the forms of discrimination described in this statement."

Interesting that the statement refers to any "practice, policy, or academic requirement that compels belief" in CRT or related concepts. What are those practices, policies, and requirements? That's unclear from the statement.

"...or the idea that systems of oppression should be the primary lens through which teaching and learning are analyzed and/or improved upon." If CRT or related concepts are taught, instruction must include other theories and be "objective."
