He was not violent himself, but he celebrated the violence and stood cheering with Vanguard and other Nazis. He was outed for this.

The far right has learned about it finally and is up in arms. But they seemingly ignore all the times that they have called on others, particularly trans people, to kill themselves. They ignore all the times they shit on mental illness.

I have an entire folder of Chris Cantwell's posts where he implicitly suggests I should kill myself. And his pinned Gab post is making fun of my friend Molly for speaking out publicly for mental health advocacy. They don't get it both ways

Andrew joined a movement that was built on hate and divisiveness and one which doesn't support its own people. He joined a movement built on hating others, not loving each other.

Suicide is always a tragedy but this case shows just how deeply morally wrong movements built on hate are. Andrew's life had no value to his peers. He had no support.

Suicide is a problem among men and as a feminist I strongly advocate for men to seek mental health support and for men to create environments of support for one another, to destigmatize mental illness. Mental illness isn't weakness and admitting you're struggling isn't a flaw.

Andrew, like many other men in his position, supported and cheered violence before he took his life. Many men who take their lives end up harming others first.

It's not on his doxxers that Andrew is dead. He made his choices and he had to live with the consequences. He could not. He chose a movement that would discard him and use him as a political prop for their hypocritical agenda later.

To all the other men out there struggling: it's ok to struggle. But your struggle is not the fault of people who aren't like you. And joining movements built on hate isn't going to ease your suffering. Those movements are going to put your suffering on others without fixing it.

They are going to use you and discard you just as fast, and no one is going to be sad when you are gone, because your legacy will be nothing but hate. Choose better. You can choose better.

Thank you for handling this topic with sensitivity. I'm a suicide survivor. A few years back, the organizers of a certain gaming conference were under fire, and there was a boycott. One of the con volunteers died by suicide... 1/2

One of his friends was mourning the loss, and some SJWs were attacking that friend, blaming his involvement with the conference for the suicide. It was very low class and extremely triggering to me to see a friend of mine RT the exchange. Then she wouldn't discuss it with me. 2/3

The memory of that is still painful to this day. It broadcast to me that these so-called safe people weren't always safe if you got in the way of their political agenda. So thank you for making your point gently. 3/3

PAX. This was circa 2013, when the "dickwolves" controversy was still hot.

Aha. I'm well aware of dickwolves, but i hadn't heard about a death. Suicide is pretty much always a tragedy, and i'm sorry about your friend. Some people are just assholes, and they're definitely not confined to any given political persuasion, more's the pity.

To clarify, I didn't know the guy who died personally.. I just saw them politicizing a totally unrelated suicide, blaming PAX for the suicide to one of his friends, while I myself was battling suicidal thoughts and had a totally other friend who had recently attempted.

I figure if we're trying to make the world a safer place, politicizing suicide as a lever to make some other point, without being gentle and validating to bystanders, is way too low a tool to use. We should not be using that. I feel Emily did a much better job.
