Doctors have always been allowed to do this legally. It's not just since Trump & Pence.https://twitter.com/olivebrinker/status/993431819075969029 …

It's stunningly fucking ignorant that you think "trans healthcare" = plastic surgery, when trans people have literally died because EMTs refuse to treat them, when trans people are turned away for having broken arms set, and refused routine labwork.
-
If they die or suffer further injury because a doctor has refused treatment, that's different.
-
They do. That's a thing that happens. That's... that's pretty much what this conversation was about. What did you think you were wandering into here?
-
If that happens, they may have a lawsuit and they should contact a lawyer.
-
Except it's mostly legal for them to do that. That's the problem. Like, sure, there *might* still be a case, but it'd be far from a certain win, and that doesn't solve the problem of worsening health or death that's already happened. You're not very good at following along, huh?
-
If what they're doing is legal, there is a reason why it's legal. Perhaps you should figure out why that is and think about it before opining further.
-
You're the one who stepped into this conversation demonstrating an obvious lack of basic knowledge about the situation. But thanks so much for showing up to opine for us. And no, I'm not even a tiny bit interested in discussing it with you via PM. I barely care enough for this.
-
FYI, the smug self-satisfaction of your community is nauseating to outsiders. Very unbecoming.

Pretty sure that it is the same as for plastic surgeons and psychiatrists, who can typically turn down patients because the treatment is not a "medical necessity". If you can prove "medical necessity" it is different, but there are stringent rules about that.
-
That said, the market should provide plenty of options for anyone seeking treatment.
-
"the market" *shakes head sadly*
