Let me walk you through my world for a sec, which intersects the far-right's world of jumping to bizarre and illogical conclusions.

A couple months ago, I tweeted this. This is a 100% factual statement. I work for an online bank, and being a data scientist generally I get to meet a lot of people in the field. It's natural that I would know a bunch of Stripe employees.https://twitter.com/EmilyGorcenski/status/964518260392779776?s=19 …

This statement, which was a statement of pride that a tech company was doing what I consider morally right, turned into a baseless conspiracy theory. Chris Cantwell wrote a blog post accusing me of perjury and financial crimes because of it.

He claimed that Stripe gives credit card numbers to "Antifa," which, I remind you, is not even an organization. The good people at Stripe would never commit such a data breach and I would never solicit them to do so, and there's NO EVIDENCE any such thing happened.

I have never solicited my contacts at Stripe to shut down any site. I have one big set of legal obligations working in banking, and that is to report suspected money laundering or illegal activity on *my* platform, which Stripe is not.

Furthermore, I am an internationally recognized speaker in Data Science ethics. I would never commit a breach that would undermine my career and reputation for such a petty act.

The blog post that Cantwell wrote was entered into evidence against him as indirect contact and harassment. In it, he falsely claimed I committed perjury and credit card fraud, linked to my Twitter, embedded screencaps of my tweets, and told people to "watch" my account.

All of this simply because I expressed pride that a workplace of some of my peers did the right thing of their own volition. This is what my life has come to. Facing ridiculous and desperate conspiracy theories at every turn.

So let me be crystal clear: I had NOTHING to do with Stripe shutting off MakerSupport, and I have NOTHING to do with MakerSupport failing. This all happened because the rest of the normal world is fucking tired of Nazis and those who support them.
