I wonder what percentage of Americans can name 12 European cities in 5 different countries.

12 cities over 5 countries, people. Not 60 cities

I feel like naming 4 European capitals is probably straightforward for most Americans that watch the news occasionally, even if they don’t know they’re capitals. That’s a pretty significant start.

        The distribution would be telling.

Sincerely, I think news consumers of any kind (including Fox News) would probably be the largest contingent who could pass the test, though they likely wouldn’t know anything about most of those cities outside of political drama. I feel like it measures basic expose, mostly.

Perhaps. The tourism industry does a good job making people aware of places that exist but IME even well-educated people leave their comfort zone the farther east on the continent you go.

12 cities in each country, or 12 cities spread across 5 European countries? The first one would be tough for me, and I’m a geography buff who looks at google maps for fun

I could definitely name twelve cities across five countries, but I don't think I could name twelve cities in each of five countries.

You couldn't name cities in easy countries like England and France and Germany and Ireland and Russia?

Russia isn't European, for starters. But yeah, I don't think I could name 12 cities in, say, France. Paris, Nice, Marseille, Lyon is all I can come up with off the top of my head.

Paris, Nice, Cannes, Munich, Berlin, Strassbourg, Rome, Venice, Genoa, Zbrovnik, Kyiv, Bialykamien (technically that's kind of a village but it's still a place!)
