Some will realize that these instructions will lead you from Troy to anywhere from Cohoes to Rensselaer to Albany.
Show this thread -
Cohoes is pronounced "cuh-HOES" and Rensselaer is pronounced "RENN-slur" if you're talking about Rensselaer but pronounced "renn-suh-LEER" if you're talking about Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute which is not in Rensselaer.

If you go too far heading South on the Northway and you end up on the Thruway you might end up in Colonie which is pronounced "cuh-loh-NEEE" and there's nothing good there.

Schenectady is pronounced exactly as it's spelled.

You can say you’ve been to NY state if you’ve driven south from Buffalo to Dunkirkand then Erie, PA. Yes, THAT Erie, PA that got dumped on this winter.
-
Also NY state driving from Lackawanna to that little t-intersection marking the edge of Vermont and NY state, where you’ll drive into Lake Champlain if you’re not careful. My partner made me stop all the way so he could breadcrumb our Magellan GPS.
-
I didn’t have a chance to mention that we never went that route again so the breadcrumbing wasn’t terribly useful.
