In 1824, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute opened in Troy, NY to provide education to the engineers building and designing the Erie Canal. In 2018, we should be providing education & jobs to the people of Flint to design and build a public infrastructure that can last 200 years

Why do you keep asking this question? It’s because Flint is mostly black and mostly poor. That’s all it is. Stop looking for any other reasons - because there aren’t any.
-
I did not actually ask any question in my post. I actually said exactly what you said in it.

You answered your own question. The people empowered to do something see literally no downside to the long term mental degradation of the population. It would seem they think keeping people of color at an inherent disadvantage is beneficial to their long-term plans.

Flint is far, far beyond the pale, but a lot of communities - shall we say - underinvest in water infrastructure. I recently got a check from my local government (in US) because of a class action suit. I got an entire dollar.

You'd have to dig up private property
-
Incorrect, public utilities are located on public land.
-
Flint's public water infrastructure already doesn't have lead pipes. The lead pipes poisoning Flint are the water main take-offs that private homeowners have never replaced.
-
And I'm quite sure if they came knocking and saying they were replacing the lead pipes, the people would leap for joy and give permission in a heartbeat.
-
Most of them are renters and can't give permission for property alterations.

I think disdain is the part that American voters play--we're counted on to lean into it. Folks in power share the disdain but also deliberately want public systems, like water, to fail in spectacular fashion. It's their strongest argument to completely destroy democratic gov.
-
Any time the government solves an issue it's an argument in favor of hanging one, instead of an ancap mad max paradise. So all nonessential solutions are prevented. And what's less essential to the ruling class than supporting Black communities?
