The first motion was a motion to quash a subpoena filed by Rutherford Org on behalf of a local journalist called by the defense to testify. It looks like the defense was notified of the motion at literally the last second.

After extensive discussion, Judge Higgins granted the motion and struck the subpoena of the local reporter over the objections of the defense.

The second motion was to refuse into evidence the City of Charlottesville's motion to dismiss charges against the man Jason assaulted, Higgins granted this for its language, which could be prejudicial.

I had to leave to run a personal errand but Kessler's case was dismissed because the CA failed to establish venue. The jury looked ready to convict, too.
