Yup. Race war is dogwhistle for "dem uppity n*s might want to be treated like humans" IIUC, it dates back to 1860, and used to be specifically about "inciting negroes to insurrection".

Mostly, I want to know the history of that statute. I've got the thread of it being specific to non-whites in the Code of 1860/1877, and I can see it in the Code of 1950 as 18.2-422. I really want to see what happened in between
