Being (decent at) poly in PDX is like being a decent machete juggler meeting tons of other people who claim they know machete juggling so you start juggling machetes together and then find out that OH GOD ACTUALLY THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO JUGGLE FUCKING KNIVES.

poly is hard.
-
It is hard. And we do all make mistakes. Both super true.
-
Still, those two truths don't absolve us of a responsibility to not be reckless (probs preaching to the choir).
-
And also the responsibility to not underestimate how hard it is, and take honest stock of our abilities.
-
So many people think the key to doing poly is "can I deal with my feelings re: my partner having other partners?"
-
Yet few seem to ask "how many people can I truly emotionally + logistically care for?"
-
Or "do I know how to do a decent job at brokering group consensus?"
-
AND "do I have the skills to care for people let down when I am unable to broker group consensus?"
