In a non-glib conversation about guns, as a legal, law-abiding gun owner, I support gun education, but this is in no way a substitute for proper gun control.

Mass shootings aside, thousands of people die every year because of unsafe storage and handling of guns, and I feel like it's a taboo to talk about guns with peers and family.

It's important to know what safe gun ownership looks like, to recognize when it's not safe, and to know what to do about it.

Replying to @EmilyGorcenski
There's only one gun I have that's not under lock and key and that's locked to the floor! No one else knows the combinations, etc. The problem is this: If I were to see someone with ARs and full clips lying around, do I call my local cops? So they might go running in???
