We have 100,000,000+ guns in this country. We need to be as aware of gun safety as we are about smelling gas leaks and avoiding downed power lines. This is not *instead* of gun control. This is a necessary step because gun control isn't gonna happen overnight.

Anyhow, I often talk and teach about gun safety to folks, because I want them to feel comfortable knowing that I'm a gun owner, to feel confident that if *I* make a mistake they'll know how to see it and catch me on it.

My ideal world, there's no need for guns. I want to get to that world. Until then, I have a shitload of evidence of people plotting to murder me and I need to make sure I can keep my home safe.

I was thinking about this last night- when my husband and I were deciding how to frame the guns concept to my kids, we decided to channel it. Airsoft was OK at the shooting park. Guns were OK hunting or at the shooting range. Safe storange and transport of all gun-like things.
