What does the manufacturer owe owners if accidents happen, a regulator demands a recall, & the mfr. has to disable the self-driving feature while it prepares, verifies, & validates a fix?
-
Who is responsible for network defense? What liability does the mfr. carry for accidents traceable to exploitation of foreseeable software vulnerabilities?
-
What is the proper risk assessment test and threshold(s) for making release & recall decisions?
-
There are a lot of key questions I still haven’t seen good answers to.

Most of what I’ve seen suggests that the automotive industry doesn’t expect average people to own vehicles in 30-40 years. Which addresses some of your concerns and factors into why they’re asking the trolley problem.

The owner or the manufacturer will likely face liability if found at fault. Any human driver involved will probably be found at fault first. Human driving will be legally discouraged. Most passengers won’t own cars.
