In the south bay we called this a "metapartner". Some people said "metamour" and it was awful

this is new information for me! I was previously under the impression (from personal experience + r/polyamory) that "metamour", usually shortened to "meta", was a generally agreed-upon and totally normal term in poly communities everywhere. what's wrong with it?

i had never heard "metamour" until this thread and briefly thought everyone had managed to independently coin the same term or maybe the entire rest of the poly community is part of the same DAG and it spread that way

i have anecdotal evidence the bay area and boston poly communities are part of a single DAG

Replying to @eevee @EmilyGorcenski and
fuck now i'm imagining an actual DAG. the crushing relationship is antisymmetric. entire cities of people who none of whom are in love with someone who is in love with them, they are only in love with people in love with someone else AN ENTIRE WORLD OF ANIME
