this is new information for me! I was previously under the impression (from personal experience + r/polyamory) that "metamour", usually shortened to "meta", was a generally agreed-upon and totally normal term in poly communities everywhere. what's wrong with it?

what? it's agreed on by everyone afaict, i just don't understand how to pronounce it so i say "metapartner"

i had never heard "metamour" until this thread and briefly thought everyone had managed to independently coin the same term or maybe the entire rest of the poly community is part of the same DAG and it spread that way

I once mapped 50 people from Boston to DC to SF to Seattle with a small Austin contingent. And obviously that was incomplete.
