First, shaming is a horribly ineffective way to raise money. Let's just get that one out of the way.
Second, the past 18 years have generated alumni who are definitionally part of the Millennial generation: the generation suffering the highest wage suppression in the light of the most steeply increasing costs in the country.

Maybe your alumni aren't donating because we're drowning in debt and when you're drowning in debt you can't generate wealth, which is a necessary step for donations.
You could ask one of the fine economics professors there about this. RPI is a fantastic school. It really is. I got a wonderful education there. I wish I could go and retake all those classes again. It has also caused its own suffering by trying to be MIT.
RPI needs to become a university in its own image, not in the image of its peers.
