Being trans in the tech industry means you have to live in a world where you know your industry peers are advocating openly for the murder of your good friends. This is hard to stomach.pic.twitter.com/3DbuNvrLB7
Ah yes, the true oppression: low-budget videos imploring you not to be an asshole.pic.twitter.com/rg7z0NCwNO
I tweeted this yesterday. I take it back. Google is there. Why would you ever interview there today, with this going on, if you're not a white cis dude?https://twitter.com/EmilyGorcenski/status/956543218400849920 …
I hope the good people at Google can push back against this. They work hard and deserve credit. But this is literally a white supremacist op happening inside their wall.
I haven't worked there in several years but lemme tell ya how easily believable this is
Hey, thanks for sharing this.
He was giving trouble to node.js developers just a few months ago. The Reddit moderators did nothing and let his entire campaign go on as he intended.
this was inevitable after damore. it's a shame, his memo was broadly okay. i don't know if it's actually clear that there's any coordination going on, employee-outsider or otherwise. it's in the interests of incendiaries of any stripe to claim there is either way.
His memo was not okay at all, broadly or otherwise. The hell?
no? i could see social or workplace propriety objections being valid, but google rather encourages that sort of thing. it wasn't a holistic presentation of things, but as a criticism/argument from a particular viewpoint, it had accurate information and wasn't grossly strident.
It had pseudo science which it used to attempt to paint women as inferior. Accurate, my foot.
i'm afraid i don't know which parts you're talking about. differences in personality and preference between the sexes are pretty well-established science. i can't speak to damore's intentions, but nothing actually in the memo seems to contend for gender superiority to me.
"Pretty well established science" Bullshit.
i'm afraid not, they really are well-corroborated cross-cultural statistical features of people. i would prefer if they weren't, but there's really no reasonable basis to believe that right now.
i can't speak to damore's recommendations for corporate organization, and i don't care for all of his political diagnoses, but the section of his memo that summarizes the current scientific consensus on gender differences is about as fair as you can get.
It's hard to say how sad and scared things like this make me feel
