The whole "my friends are getting DMs accusing me of being a fed" thing would be a lot less funny if those DMs weren't also coming from people who asked me to give info to the feds.

A huge part of our action in Charlottesville was to get the permit revoked based on the outrageous threats of violence and to ensure that if it wasn't that the police didn't set up a Gladiator situation.

Obviously this was unsuccessful, but this action necessarily required someone to engage with police as a liason and I did that work because of my background. That was widely known to everyone I organized with.

Most of these requests fell on deaf ears--of course they did--but they still had to be made. We were getting invaded not only by Nazis but by militias, some of whom were putting out extremely aggressive and worrisome messages.

You actually need to plan for something more than "punch a nazi" when you're up against a bunch of people cosplaying the 10th Mountain Division.
