"But the Nazis couldn't have been that foolish." Yeah. They are.

What "intel" could you possibly gain about the alt-right that would be vaguely useful to anyone? The alt-right is, at it's core, a nihilistic movement that's open about being dishonest and disingenuous if they think they can win. Their supporters like that about them.
-
Um, times and meeting places and who they're organizing with and who they're on the outs with and about a million other things... are you really asking me this after Unite the Right?
-
So, things anyone could have learned by reading their media? They didn't organize that in secret.
-
Not everything. Quite a lot of critical information valuable to ongoing legal matters was obtained through intel gathering.
-
Two federal lawsuits have been filed that heavily utilized information gathered through intel efforts. So yeah, it matters.

I’m trying to withhold about all of this, but if she was getting information she just ruined by announcing publicly she got it. Espionage doesn’t work like this.
-
She already burned the information when DC folks showed up to counter the party the other night.

jfc this is embarrassing. this isn't a 007 and playing "escape the room" with nazis isn't going to land you the secret keys to all their plans

so, the internet is full of people doing shit i don’t understand. emily gets death threats & slurs & all kinds of terrifying garbage every day. compared to that, this is trivial, but i was surprised to see it from a mutual follower of mine, though.
-
i guess it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that a “big account” is still a person, not some kind of arcade game you slot a reply into & see what comes out. she’s a person who’s getting PILED ON & you drop a reply that you’ve already used on another, similar post?
-
again, this is MEANINGLESS in the grand scheme of replies, but i don’t ‘know’ those other repliers. emily is not just a person behind a twitter handle, she’s a friend of mine & a tireless, brilliant, brave activist who protects the community i live in.
-
so instead of dropping a meaningless reply onto a post already chock full of ‘em, think for a minute about the reality that this account is a real human trans woman who has thanklessly offered her labor and intelligence to a community fucking besieged by actual murderous nazis.
-
this goes for all y’all tweet happy reply guys. take a deep breath and ask yourself if you are engaged in discourse in good faith or if you’re just wasting the time & energy of a good person who does good for a town that needs her, just for the sake of a good dunk.

i appreciate your earnest reply. i know twitter is mostly a place for shitposting and nonsense, but i wish folks engaging on posts like this would do so with some commitment to actual discourse, not just slowly grinding down folks we ought to be lifting up
