The swatting story today hits home because since October I've: - been swatted - filed criminal charges for being doxed - have opened an investigation into online death threats made against me This shit is fucking real, folks.

It's bad enough that people would try to hurt others. It's even worse when they try to use a militarized police force as their proxy.

It's not even a "prank". It's a scare tactic. In most cases, it's "this person does this online... look what happened to her? you wanna be next?"

You’re so right. A Prank would be sending pizza to someone’s house. (Still shitty since it hurts delivery drivers) We all know cops will fucking shoot anyone except white supremecists.

this is so messed up. it's basically weaponizing our jittery and overly militarized law enforcement.

That story is horrible, and it's horrible people do stuff like that (and more) to others over a video game.

A 25-year-old man believed to be behind a swatting incident that led to a fatal police shooting in Wichita, Kansas, has been arrested in Los Angeles, officials say. He has been identified as Tyler Raj Barriss, who is known online as "SWAuTistic."pic.twitter.com/38NMR3HTmi

Turns out the guy who called in the prank allegedly did it for money. If so, I expect he’ll avoid jail by flipping the guy who hired him, and that guy will maybe get a fine. When word gets out that no-one’s going to prison, SWATting will be 2018’s biggest craze.
