I don't intend this to be a callout, but this crimethinc post on @IGD_News is offensive to those of us on the ground in Charlottesville.pic.twitter.com/2kaFyg9RXp

Don't put Heather's name in your mouths if you're not going to read yourself in on what she marched for in her own community.
I'm sorry, are you a J20 defendant? @crimethinc is an anonymous project, but participants are from the South, were in Charlottesville, etc. Surely you agree there would have been more people in Charlottesville if not for many kinds of state repression.
I'm referring to the insinuation that the presence of J20 defendants *specifically* would have somehow averted James Fields' attack. Which is impossible to conclude.
The facts are that Fields drove into a crowd of 500 people hours after the rally area was cleared. There's no evidence that suggests his premeditated act would have been different if we were 800 or 1000.
There, however, *is* evidence that the statue mob on August 11 contributed to lower turnout on August 12. And Heather herself almost didn't attend because of it, choosing at the last minute to go in solidarity with her friend.
Exactly. I got tired of some patronizing activists from northern urban locales tryna "help" us by dropping their out-of-context templates onto a small Southern town. Yo, we're the experts on our location. listen. to. us. and learn, and then we can be allies.
You realize that there were already loads of not locals there and anti fascists were still outnumbered or evenly matched most of the day. There is no "capacity" for how well something can be organized everything has shortcomings and can be benefitted by others experience.
You realize that James Fields made a premeditates decision to drive into us regardless of how many people we had and that's *on him* and nothing else. Heather is dead because a Nazi killed her.
Every "what if" is meaningless speculation that is equally as valid as its counterpoint. The framing in the article is unnecessary to its thesis and ignorant of fact.
