as i get ready for bed tonight, i’m thinking of a woman in my community who sleeps with the lights on to keep the bugs at bay. pour that surplus into things that help this city, like affordable housing. not one damn cent for police.https://twitter.com/madeleinebc/status/937826660971368448 …

That's a big failure. And we can't keep talking about Principles in abstract until we acknowledge the specific failures that happened and continue to happen.
-
"What we do next" is all well and good until we honestly sit down and talk about "what we do right now about what happened."

These were my exact words, presented publicly on July 14. I accurately predicted and identified precisely the command and communication issues that Heaphy revealed. ON JULY 14. Specific. Actionable. These must be addressed.pic.twitter.com/tGSGBeMLjT

I hope you see how this is all connected Wes. Citizens raise issue. City responds with assurances. Issue continues or worsens. City fails. Citizens demand accountability. City promises change. No change. Repeat forever.

I’ve never once said for anyone to not express themselves nor have I ever used the words “be civil”...I don’t mind it. In this thread, I continue to say that I’m not going to put her biz on Twitter. She and I discussed it.

i fear you may be missing the point. we're no longer talking specifically about ms connie. we're talking about accountability in general, of which there continues to be very little. and accusing me of "coming at you" is functionally the same as signer's calls for civility.

my bad for taking it personal. You’re right. We all in this together. Have to act like it. Myself included.
