*people raised in the Great Depression, go on to fight foreigners who threaten the established European white supremacy* "Ah yes, the Greatest Generation" *people raised in the Great Recession, go on to try to dismantle white supremacy* "This is literally the worst generation"

I'm not exactly sure how you want to argue that Nazi Germany threatened white supremacy in any way? I mean, arguably WWII wasn't about WS in a meaningful way - it was about territorial ambitions and imperial power.
-
It was about territorial ambitions and maintaining imperial *established* European white supremacy. The imperial power that was threatened by territorial ambitions was white supremacist in nature. I'm not arguing that the nazis were threatening white supremacy, but I am saying 1/
-
that white supremacy did play a part in our internment camps and use of nuclear weapons. I chose established supremacy over hegemony to highlight established European imperial racism and keep in mind the Pacific theatre in 280 characters. I was not as successful as I'd hoped 2/2

This is when ideology takes over. The Nazis and the Japanese were both intensely racist and imperialist. The British weren't just fighting to keep colonies (which were already going their own way); they were fighting for their homeland.
-
Never mentioned the British but keep that projection going strong. The nazis, Japanese, British, and American were and are racist imperialists. But in the context of America, we didn't intern or nuke white people. This isn't ideology. This is history and it's repeating 1/2
-
White supremacy played a part in who was interned and who was nuked. Societally, millenials who are fighting to dismantle white supremacy are being labeled "the worst generation" If a denunciation of white supremacy makes you feel attacked, you should think about why 2/2
-
Sure. and racism played a role in whom the Japanese chose to rape and mass murder. And the Germans to gas. Denunciation of WS=good. Inaccurately accusing a generation of giving their lives by the 100's of thousands of fighting to defend racism=not so good.

*people raised in the Great Recession, go on to BECOME Nazis.* "This is literally the worsterest generation."
-
*People raised in the Great Depression also went on to become Nazis* Every generation has its shitheads.
-
Okay, but that was before World War II. After World War 2 there's even less excuse.

The "worst generation" stuff is BS...but still, seriously? Unless you're joking, this comparison is an insult to people who grew up in abject poverty and fought Nazi armies that nearly conquered the world.
-
Umm... Yes? That's an accurate comparison??
