This took immense emotional energy by a Black woman over years to move *ONE* Nazi, one who had already been punished. I faced 300. At once.

One Nazi drove into a crowd of us, killing many, injuring dozens. He was only 20. We don't have the benefit of years.

yeah black people doing emotional labour really isn't the solution
-
And it completely ignores the fact that this particular person had to be open to some sense of empathy. Most entrenched Nazis aren't.
-
So like if you happen to meet a person with bigoted ideas who seems genuinely open to listening to you and not wasting your time, great!
-
..... But let's be real, the ratio there is pretty fucking low and putting already limited energy into converting all of them is foolish.

This idea that it is up to black ppl to be forgiving and continue to extend emotional labor to change ppl who perceive us erks me.

It also doesn’t stop the ideologically trenched, especially those actively committing hate. Punching works.
