It is hard to be a trans woman with a platform. The harassment we receive is unworldly.

And it ultimately pushes many of us to silence. So as a result, outspoken trans women become the exception, not the rule.

And as a result, when we speak of our experiences, it leads to the appearance that we're using those experiences for leverage.

But it's the harassment that causes that scarcity in the first place. Harassment leads to fewer voices, which makes the lasting ones rarer.

I speak from my experience as primarily a trans woman, but I know folks inhabiting different intersections see similar cycles.
