I have a different take that involves a company hiring someone who may not have been the right person to solve the problems at equifax

But who also was a symptom of a larger issue happening at the company. The major part plays a role, but it's a minor role.

Don't agree with the idea though that the CISO is basically a figurehead in every organization. Many have real power.

And if this particular CISO didn't exercise that power to fix even he simplest issues, then she is on the hook for that.

the chief branch at any company is essentially figure heads. CEOs even just bust in, shake the company up, then leave with millions.
