The thing about "alt rightism" is that it seems popular when you're in the Breitbart comments section. But in the real world? It's despised.https://twitter.com/evanmcmurry/status/898989750295470080 …

Incorrect. AP Style has been fulcrum of all journalism for decades. AP issued directive on 'alt-right' this wk. It is a rebranding word
But Joy isn't using it to describe their brand. She's using it much as you are now, to call out its context as *they* use it.
She's not saying "the alt right dis a thing tuesday." She's saying "this thing the call 'alt right' is actually garbage trash."
If you never address the language *they* use for themselves, they can more easily sidestep it. So you have to use it in some contexts.
Example: "The neo-Nazis are fuckheads." <-- lotsa people agree "Folks who call themselves 'alt-right' are fuckheads." <-- this educates
Careless use of vulgar language rarely educates. Studies show vulgarity often damages credibility. U just hurt URself on this one.
I didn't do shit. You simply refuse to listen to powerful women of color. Goodbye.
AP style isn't Tweet friendly. But good point to call it what it is and not use their choice of label.
