So, learning a language by immersion is fun but it's def. different than as a child, and I don't think neuroplasticity is the sole reason.

and you end up with what you want, no feedback. But if you say that as a kid, feedback is almost 100% guaranteed.

Interesting. My experience in Belgium was the opposite. The folks in my town were happy to correct my grammar. Guess I was just very lucky.

It's definitely a city thing. In Prague I'd occasionally order in Czech and they'd just default to English, even when my Czech was accurate.

This is true and great. But when I was in Spain people were so great about kind and gentle correction. Made for an amazing experience.

school where I learned swedish were super helpful w/feedback-probably bc they got so many lnge students-&were grt abt keeping it in Swedish
