Benefit of open source mapping - edits are really easy to promulgate. I assume you already tried suggesting an edit? https://www.lifewire.com/edit-location-google-maps-1616681 …

Can't "Suggest an Edit" on public spaces on google maps, but this is perfect. Thanks!

I do, though I'm a bit specialized. What's up?
-
What's the process like for updating the name of a public space, generally? Businesses etc. usually have an exposed feature, but not spaces.
-
Specifically you would like to change the strings used to look up a public space? For lookup purposes? Also what kind of space? Parks?
-
Yeah. Suppose a Park were to change name. How would that change propagate?
-
Depends on who you're getting data from. OpenStreetMap? Some nerd has probably made the edit already.
-
TomTom might get it from some local govt feed, or people complain at them and you wait until they give you new data next quarter.
-
If you're making your own map data... Lots of approaches, first clue might be seeing people search for new name you know nothing of.
-
Usually this will involve an operator making a data edit at some point. Then you might have a patching strat, or wait til next data rollout
