Half of trans folks report being sexually assaulted in their lives. Half. One in two. I'm in the unlucky half.

I'm in the percentage that have been, but aren't reported.

And I think this is an apt time to explain why I'm unreported. It happened at a gay bar, and I don't like talking about it.

I don't like talking about it because when I tell people where it happened, sometimes people think I was asking for it by being there.

I also internalized some of that myself and wonder if my being there was a contributing factor despite doing nothing to bring it on.

I had a similar framing. Gay bar, surprised me. I got away and tried to find cops but there weren't any. So I drove home shitfaced.
