      Ok, when I was in 2nd grade I was taught rivers run south, not north, and the Nile was the only exception, because it was big.

      I remember this clearly and know one other person that remembers this. Does anyone else remember a teacher telling them this?

          Yep! I remember being told there was only one that ran S to N. i was surprised to find the willamette runs north!

          Bizarre! Of the three largest rivers in North America two flow south to north (St Lawrence and MacKenzie).

          I didn't remember until you said this, but yes, I do remember being taught that there was something unique about the Nile flowing north.
