Ok, but x^13 is expanded as far as it can go. Can you provide a specific example? Are you looking at something like (x-a)^13 to be expanded?

yeah, dy/dx = 13x¹² if y = x¹³

If you're trying to compute derivative by limits, you might get lim_{h -> 0} (x+h)^13/h. And then you'd use the binomial theorem.
