Only redeeming quality I can think of is that, for ppl raised without empathy & serious internalized but unconscious racism...

But they absolutely should have had more representation of non-white victims of the system. No excuse not to.
I think there's a tendency to foreground white stories as a way to make white ppl care. "Look, this could even happen to you!"
It's lazy, and it furthers assumptions about white innocence vs black guilt. Also minimizes empathy as something all people should have
