Twch meetups, if uncontrolled, will inevitably devolve into a man talking about funding.

Most of the techies I know are some blend of anarchists and communists so maybe we need more meetups that explicitly include not capital.
-
Of course, people would complain about that being "political." As if prattling about angel investment isn't.
-
This isn't really a political call to action or anything. I'm just kind of tired of men in poorly fitting suits talking my ear off about $$$
-
Humble-brag?

-
not at all. Everyone gets this treatment at many of the meetups here.
-
Just jk. IMO it's crass. Could talk about customers, engineering, even burndown rates, but prefer to talk $, compare sizes of investments.

Notable parallel: why are so many biz books about leadership? As though everyone actually wants to lead?
-
I really just want to make stuff. Someone else can handle all the BS, politics, "visioneering" etc.
-
Entrepreneurship is the opposite of making stuff. If I had a great idea, I'd want a biz partner to do things I don't do very well.

From my own experience, most people who think they want to found a company really just want some control over the work they do

The midwest offers a different track with 'So when are you making the jump to management?' ...but I don't want to manage. I like to code.
