It's the result of the same hypermasculinization/militarization the alt-right swims in, despite them being soft as shit.

By framing your "opponents" as "warriors," your cause becomes a righteous battle.
-
I get called an SJW a lot, but "warrior" is the last thing I am. I do computers and want my peers to not die under Trump. That's it.
-
At least on Twitter, "SJW" often means one who didn't vote for &/or stayed silent abt Hillary b/c she & Trump were "same"
-
Always risky to perpetuate steroetypes,, but I suppose it's true that one either sides with
@SusanSarandon or one doesn't. -
And "warrior" application (as far as relevance) seems an offshoot of "Bernie or Bust" mentality, which, @ the end, was 4 sure a battle cry.
-
The term existed before Bernie was a factor
-
of course it did, which is why I specifically use the term "application"

I've always found it to be a pretty flattering term - who *doesn't* want to be a warrior for justice?
-
All they have to do is change the job title for greeters to Walmart Justice Warrior and folks will line up to do it.

I seem to recall it was very briefly an earnest term used by a small corner of the Internet that became a rightwing meme

As with most RW pejoratives, aside from being fairly asinine, it tends to speak more to something of substance lacking in them.
