Better to just say "their pronouns" rather than "preferred"?Tried googling but got a ton of shit about ppl not respecting pronouns at all

-
Yep. Just pronouns. Basically, aim towards treating trans people as any other people.
-
"Preferred" implies "unpreferred" pronouns are acceptable.

What is an important way to be an ally/ help normalize trans community from the outside? Or what do we need to do better?
-
Be there for us, stand up for us. Ask us for our needs, believe us when we speak, and amplify our voices.
-
When you hear people casually making jokes, or mis-gendering someone, correct them, or educate them.

I'd like to get rid of - biologically male/female - journey People referring to my "journey" always irked me. It sounds too Indiana Jones.
-
Yep. Can't stand that either.

bathroom of choice is good tho? For enby people & for safety issues?
-
"bathroom of choice" makes it sound like we're asking for extra rights and is rarely used in mainstream trans journalism in enby contexts.
-
yeah true. Different meanings depending on context I guess
-
I'm an enby and I endorse this message
-
mine or emily's? ^^'
-
Emily's! I had to think on how to clarify it
-
(enby too) imo it's more a matter of "to pee where they feel more comfortable" which can be =/= to "right spot", but yeah.

Honestly as a fellow trans person I'd rather go the other way. Try and mainstream the fact that cis people ALSO identify as their genders
-
I like that idea but also fuck cis people so???
-
I just have issues with the assumption that in order to be respected we have to treat our gender like cis people do theirs: some inherent
-
And immoveable thing as opposed to a socially constructed, performative thing. The reason TERFs use Judith butler's writing to cut down TW
-
Is because they read "gender is performative" and thing "trans people are fake" as opposed to "I perform gender as much as anyone else"
-
Same with pronouns. If I referred to a cis man with she/her consistently it would likely bother him because those are not his preferred
-
Pronouns. The associations that she/her pronouns carry do not fit with a cis man's gender identity of "male".
