This is worth probably 100s of 1000s to millions of productive person-hours thrown away for nothing... effect of cuts notwithstanding.

That money is spent on making sidewalks wheelchair accessible, improving lighting, etc. That's *several* jobs right there. Gone.

And those jobs don't magically become defense contractor jobs. The streetlight guys aren't gonna start installing SAMs.

As a grant pro, I see gov't social spending has become more efficient and strategic (see: uniform grant guidelines).
