If we respond to every speech-based provocation of violence with violence, we're doing Milo's work for him, right?
-
-
100% agreed. What I mean is, responding to a speaker we don't like—no matter how repulsive—w/ violence is a losing strategy.
-
Not saying it's wrong, or even unjustified. I'm saying I think it will be counter-productive for the Left as a movement.
-
It's counterproductive because the left doesn't value actual lives over principles they wish were true.
-
I don't love violence, I've spoken before about how I left my job as a defense contractor because I didn't want to make weapons
-
But it is absolutely justified to defend lives against the assaults that ppl like Milo instigate.
-
Absolutely it is. I'm saying it's not justified to respond to speech with physical violence.
-
If violent offenders go after us, then we respond in kind. If we're talking just speech though, I can't get on board.
-
And I don't mean this in a first amendment absolutist douchey way either. I'm just talking strategy. Our response to speech.
