If the universe is a simulation, surely we're at the part where the simulator just starts screwing with things out of boredom.
The latest test has noise thresholds very very very very low. I don't have the article in front of me, but it's compelling.

If it's the one I read, it is clear they are picking up a tiny effect. Have they done the basic string test though?

What I got from the article was that they weren't experienced people in this field, but new to the "magic power" field.
