Ethical dilemmas come up only when we have competing frameworks. What we face are unpleasant decisions.

so this a semantic argument about terms of art? a philosophy seminar?
-
Hardly. Ethics is a well-establish field of study.

philosophy major here, thanks!

Medical and tech ethics professional here, you're welcome.
-
indeed. still not persuaded by your framing, nor do i hear how it advances the discussion.
-
Basically, what people call "ethical dilemmas" are badly weighted on one side by "I want this thing"
-
One side of the dilemma rarely has conflicts with, e.g. consent or beneficence, rather, it's an undemonstrated potential.
-
An ethical dilemma would be "I could demonstrably cure cancer if I did this thing that violated consent"
