The right *has* to believe that Trump's not xenophobic so they can continue a legitimate belief that what they're pushing isn't hate.

The right is perpetrating on itself a series of goalpost-movings and perception changes so that it can believe itself to be a moral center.

And not only that, but a moral center that has never moved since "when America was great." Like a cat in a sunbeam. But it'll be night soon.
