It can be argued that we've been in a post-fact world for a while now, but I get the impression most didn't take it seriously until now.

But see, I'm trans. And I've been exposed to the same factless vitriol for a minute now. Anti-factual hate is part of the package.
-
And it makes me realize that post-fact thinking isn't just confirmation bias, but rather a vehicle for justifying hatred.

You can say, "oh, they just want their party to win." Trans people have no party. We have no political power. Yet look at HB2.
-
This was never "believe what you want so the other party is wrong." It's "believe what you want so you can celebrate when they die."
-
I saw this with Gamergate. And same sex marriage. And trans bathroom bills. We had no political power, they just want us erased.
-
So when you see Trump et all promoting fake stories, remember that it's not about justifying party action. It's to justify our erasure.
-
We're now in an authoritarian regime. We have to recalibrate our thinking. The old political process is no more. It's targeting, not lies.

Wingnuts will try to turn discussions they are losing into name calling contests so they can ban you for being "disruptive."
