yes, and it's an interesting question: would I be more likely to identify as male if 1) cis mal spaces weren't garbage, and
2) people didn't assume I'm female anyway because despite masculine features I have long hair + don't act like a dude?
who knows, but I'm cheerfully nonbinary rn. Ofc it would be safer to pass, but I don't think its an option for me tbh.
I gotta say, as someone who can pass female at times, the safety aspect of passing is regularly offset by the worse treatment.
I think if I did try to pass I'd just be stuck constantly worrying about performing masculinity to avoid being "found out"
ironically this makes me different from cis men not at all...easiest not to bother
