At my last job, we had 25 engineers but almost no diversity. Every problem was solved the same way: adaptive controllers or polynomial NNs.

In fact, we went so far as to only seek out problems that could be solved that way. Out-of-the-box thinking wasn't appreciated at all.

That nerdy enthusiasm I have about what I do is elevated by having people not like me to learn from, not by working in an echo chamber.
