I want to pick up from this thread a little bit.https://twitter.com/EmilyGorcenski/status/784227203349381120 …
At the time, I was leaving my prior job. The site suggested that people on the list be blacklisted from employment.

I didn't back down, because I want to believe I live in a world where supporting diversity can be rewarded. This was "strong."
-
That is bullshit. That shouldn't be considered strong. That should be normal.
-
As a result of this, I don't list my employer or title here. Is that fear? Is that weak? Prudent?
-
The politics this year have been horrible. And every other day there seems to be another trigger to step on.
-
And the people who made this list are still out there. The strength it takes to come forward in the first place... that's remarkable.
-
But that's not the strength that gets praised in our culture. We prefer inspiration porn that doesn't challenge the status quo.
-
Regardless of how this election turns out, I am terrified for whatever comes next.
-
This year, I've gotten death threats, been written up twice in UK tabloids, harassed at a conference, gaslighted out of a job, and more.
-
So god help me if in 2017 I hear even once, "you're so strong for being out and trans."
