This winter, I was thrown out of my hockey league because I complained about being forced to change in the men's locker room.
The first game of the season, the only one I got to play, this took me by surprise so I went along with it. My teammates didn't really care.

But that was precisely the problem. Hockey locker rooms aren't like ones at the gym. They're open, benches along the walls. No privacy.
-
Look, my boobs aren't that big, but they're there. And it's conspicuous as fuck to be the only one in a sports bra.
-
One of the dudes jokes that maybe the other woman on our team should also change in the locker room with us.
-
Another guy responded with, "yeah, we can give her a strap on so everyone here has a dick."
-
I have never in my life wanted to disappear as badly as I did right then.
-
Not all men joined that banter. Not all men laughed. But not a single fucking one of them challenged what just happened.
-
Men, it is on you to call out and end this behavior, regardless of whether it happens in private or public. You cannot abide it.
-
The shit I am seeing on my feed, in the news... the defenses of "locker room talk"... that all makes ne feel exactly as I felt that moment.
-
So it's on you to make sure that this behavior doesn't pass unpunished. Speak out. Act. Vote. Please.

At the end of all this, I was the only one who got punished. For having the temerity to defend myself against harassment.pic.twitter.com/pyCIHbZVCZ
