the way that a wrench might have a depression for a human thumb, airliner design is deeply rooted in human factors

you can't even begin to design a plane without considering how it will be piloted and maintained

yep. I worked on the F-NumbertyNumber and it was like a $10M+ effort just to understand certifiability of one component.
