This group met twice a year, once on each coast of the US. Lots of industry folks, professors, government, military, etc. Best of the best.

The average age was higher than a typical dev conf. Most of these folks have known each other for years or decades. Lots of old grudges, too

During one presentation, one attendee, an emeritus somewhere I think, stood up mid talk and yelled out, from almost all the way in the back,

"You've been telling the same lousy goddamn lies for fifteen goddamn years!" This was all about using a factor of 0.25 in some algorithm.

And yet, this was about 1000x more preferable than LambdaConf. And many other software industry conferences, too.
