There are meaningful differences between groups like Atomwaffen, the Proud Boys, the Ghost Face Gangsters, Patriot Front, Generation Identity, etc. Sure, a Nazi’s a Nazi but these groups have different hooks for their recruiting pipelines and that matters for us.
In Germany, the media doesn’t quite get this. There’s a tendency to view all neo-Naziism in the lens of the NSU. This is fallacious. We even saw this in the wake of the Halle attacks. That attack had very little connection or even overlap in formative ideology!
The things you have to ask are: - how were they radicalized - how are they radicalizing others - what are they saying underneath their deceptions
What’s less important are: - their visions for their future world - how they plan to get there Very often these things are fraught with contradictions and diving too deeply into them is walking directly into their nest of deception
