Eoin Lenihan hasn't just completely undermined his own misguided attempt to libel journalists, activists, and researchers, he's done so in a way that has lit his own academic career entirely on fire.

All of this was eminently avoidable. I reached out to him directly last month, in a civil manner, asking him to correct the record. He refused, and instead chose to walk into a trap of his own making.

To be clear, he's been caught on out several lies, including: - that the journal he submitted to has a data embargo policy (h/t @elizabcking) - that his Quillette article was fact-checked - that his research was independent and in good faith
